524 x 527 (52,4 cm x 52,7 cm - custom tailored!!!! 😏 👯‍♀️ :D)
brazed&build about end of 1982/ beginning of '83
telaista / framebuilder: Gianni Rivola
son of founder Giovanni Rivola (1925-1996) and Rosa Melandri (1927-2013)
sister of Alma Rivola as younger brother of Fausto Rivola. Named of course after the great Campionissimo!!!! out of the father passion for cycling!!!!

What does "Le Grand Fusil", the big rifle 🔫 Raphaël Geminiani) say about il Campionissimo Coppi: "my master - he taught me everything." ... "He invented everything: diet, training, technique, he was 15 years ahead of everyone."

(from 1964 then) in Via Amendola, Massa Lombarda, Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, ITA

started to braze for the family brand 1978, for two years under the guidance of maestro artigiano telaista Umberto Chiesa, from Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, who came to visit & teach three times a week.
Brazed Rivolas for 15 years till 1993.
Chiesa build/brazed frames in the early career of Felice Gimondi, as for the spainard "el tarangu".
The same nickname as his father and grandfather, a word in the Asturian language for a man reputed for his strength and character. (put in Eddy Merckx words, the best climber in modern cycling history, and record holder of four consecutive green jerseys @ the giro d'italia {mountain classifictaion}) Jose Manuel Fuente.

brazed partially over a coal forge / coal-fired furnace "a base di legno dolce" literally on basis of sweet wood - Weichholz, therefore no frame jig could be used and the frame was fixed using the techinque of pinning, using pins :D. Dropouts where brazed with a brazing torch and Castolin.

Cinelli SC fork crown, Chierici (from Parma) investment cast bottom bracket shell, Cinelli CM lugs stamped, Campagnolo 1010/b Porta Catena dropouts, Columbus SP tubing

quality stuff... :D

refurbished - "restauriert"

Bonfanti wrote:
the lettering from about 68 but definitely 69 to 72/73. The fact that it doesn't have cable guidings on the bottom bracket shell makes it old but given the heart on the box I'd say 69 or even 70. Earlier you could have found a bean 🫘 instead of the heart ♥️. In that period he mixed a lot of things so better to say 68-70 without getting too worried about the exact year. Then this one is refurbished, but the decals are correct up to 72 if you want.

*because of his hunger for polenta

was born in Cusano Milanino on 24 December 1924, on Christmas Eve and, unfortunately, still close to Christmas, on 23 December 1995, he died as a result of the consequences of a road accident in which he was hit by a car on the Bàcula flyover (better known as the Ghisolfa bridge) some ten days earlier, in the late afternoon of 11 December, while he was returning to his home in Via Mac Mahon in Milan on his bicycle.
