Aktuelles Kartenmaterial für Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT, ROAM, ELEMNT selbst generieren

Thanks for verifying @Chris 5000 . I can see it now on Cruiser. Unfortunately at the moment I have no clue what could be the cause. Without changes in the theme, the only thing that logically can be wrong is indeed the map.
I'm busy creating the final tiles/countries of my current world run. Hopefully I get a change to dive into this a bit more tomorrow. First step I guess is regenerating the tile and see if the issue persists.

Think I found it. I'll spare you guys the details but I'm not really happy with it because it means the maps get bigger again. The same region now looks like this on Cruiser:

I uploaded the tile in Cruiser and Wahoo format to the Germany folder on the OneDrive in folder 133. If you would, could you (all) please take a critical look at it? Also on the device, not just Cruiser! Thanks.

thx, I've downloaded the files, but the files seems to be exactly the same in the germany \ rheinlandpfalz folder, the maps are still broken. Are there some other locations to download?

I downloaded the files from the OneDrive and uploaded them (with the Elemntary app) to my Ace.
Took me quite some time to find the location by zooming and panning, but here it is:

Doesn't get much better than that. Don't know how you upload the maps and clear the temp files and cache, but to avoid issues there I strongly suggest to use VTI's Elemntary app if you don't already.

@Chris 5000 could you please try these new map too? This simply has to work now.
Just to avoid confusion, try this file please:

But for Elemntary this file has to be in a folder named 133

What exactly is broken? On my Bolt II the Location looks like this:

I guess there is still some Forest missing.

Good question 😉. If I compare Openstreetmap (the source) with what I see on my Ace screen now, no obvious forest etc is missing. What is missing in this test tile are elevation lines. So Chris, this does not appear to be the test tile from the OneDrive?

Are there any experiences with long track records (> 15 h)? I would like to install these maps, but I fear the device might become unstable.

@PepeFast Unfortunately 15h+ rides are not for me. The longest rides I know from somebody I actually know personally are ~300km rides.
Nothing is guaranteed of course (even with the original Wahoo maps btw) but keep in mind that the maps are just "data files" for the device. Nothing is changed in the firmware/software of the device. In theory even corrupted maps should not crash the device.
Actually these maps can also be a technical improvement over the Wahoo maps. A certain part of Paris for example can not be loaded when using the Wahoo maps. Something that is solved in these maps.

Stability wise you could simply test yourself. Install these maps (its easy enough to revert to stock maps). Start a ride and carry the unit with you for the rest of the day and check if in the evening if everything is still working and completely logged. do this for as long as you like to feel confident they work. For the unit there is little difference between a work/home commute in a car/public transport or a bike ride...

More info -> bigger maps :-) but I feel your concern.
But you tell me, I now have two devices, the Bolt 1 and the Ace.
My bolt 1 can still handle my, very big/busy, tile but I can't zoom/pan to other tiles/regions. So unless someone tells tells me it's not working anymore I'm going to assume it's not a problem yet.

I remember a moment when the map was blank for a few minutes, i guess there might have been a problem with the >2km view and to many pois displayed at once.

Could be, that would normally be the initial conversion of the map file to the internal temp/cache file(s). Subsequent loading should be much faster.
My maps are pretty much the same size as the new v20 Wahoo maps (for all devices) so I don't really expect issues in that compartment.

So is there a theme in development that is able to display all streetnames?

There is still the issue that the compass disappears.

I don't know what you see with the compass, I only know from my own experience with my bolt 1 that this happens (if we are talking about the same issue) on devices that where not designed to use vtm rendering.
Anyway, not much that can be done about that from a map point of view I'm afraid.

As far as a theme goes, everybody can make/change a/the theme. Street names where always a possibility but I did not deem it useful as a) the original Wahoo maps included street names but did not use them. b) the screens of the devices were to small to make them readable in my opinion. c) As you see, file size.
But with the Ace street names are displayed by default by Wahoo and the screen is big enough to actually make them readable and so useful.
My current idea is to adapt the bold/roam 2 theme to display street names and depending on feedback make it a bolt/roam 2/ace theme or split them up in bolt/roam 2 and separate Ace theme.
Wanted to do this is my Christmas vacation but did not get to it alas.

Is there someone here who would be willing to test a small test modification to the bolt 2 & roam 2 theme in combination with the latest maps (Jan 25) to see if residential street names show up and if it is potentially useful on these smaller devices?
Don't look at font sizes, colors, names over icons etc, just if it is or could be readable and useful.
Example on Ace:

You can find the theme here on http://wahoomaps.higli.de/ :

The residential street names show up on my bolt II at 50m zoom level. The smaller street names appear at 20m zoom level.

It is both, readable and useful. :daumen:

Have now read through p. 23 - still 26 to go :)

Very good stuff! Looking forward trying it out (once I arrived at the end of the thread)

@Chris 5000 Hate to ask, but are you sure you are using the January maps? Not those from 2 weeks ago?
I just got feedback in the telegram group from a German person telling (and showing) it works on his Roam 2.
Bolt and Roam should be the same.

Probably an Ace thing but I had to redo map update and theme update a number of times for it to work.

Have now read through p. 23 - still 26 to go :)

😁😁 Have fun!
