You don't say what you are using now, but pathText does a decent job for canals and the likes for me.
Have a look here for how I used it https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!AM8e4ViJIHdmOyU&id=F4E28DC020FD3904!3114&cid=F4E28DC020FD3904

btw, there is a new Germany map file up on the onedrive https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=!AM8e4ViJIHdmOyU&id=F4E28DC020FD3904!136&cid=F4E28DC020FD3904
There is also a folder "Routing-to-test". Maybe someone here is able and willing to test if these work with the summit freeride feature? I asked in the telegram group but so far no responses there.

Thanks @macdet! I'm going to upload all maps and routing than. (maybe a little wait still for the "approval" of a brit for the left side drive)

If you want you can upload Mallorca routing tiles, I can test them until Wednesday. Today with the original Wahoo routing tiles there were some rerouting back issues.

Uploading the Spain subregions now. As you know I guess it's not about the quality of the routing (little I can do about that) but if it's freeride compatible. i.e. does it show climbs on the way without crashing.

Currently I'm using pathText and caption. As far as I know is pathText only able to print the names into the Street there is no location like "above" or "beyond" possible.

With caption you are able to use a location, but then the printtout is only horizontaly. But "Gartenstraße" should be printed vertically.

This are all possible options for pathText, don't know what dy does:
<xs:complexType name="pathText">
<xs:attribute name="cat" type="xs:string" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="display" default="ifspace" type="tns:display" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="k" type="tns:textKey" use="required" />
<xs:attribute name="dy" default="0" type="xs:float" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="font-family" default="default" type="tns:fontFamily" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="font-style" default="normal" type="tns:fontStyle" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="font-size" default="0" type="tns:nonNegativeFloat" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="fill" default="#000000" type="tns:color" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="priority" default="0" type="xs:integer" use="optional" />
<xs:attribute name="scale" default="stroke" type="tns:scale" use="optional" />

Today I had the same little backrouting issus as with the orig. Wahoo Routing Tiles.

And after that the proposed routings were also not first choice.

Did you change some options? The For-CL-to-Test tiles were a bit better I think.

Nope, 99.999999999% sure. The only difference is I used Henks/Intyres's docker image instead of my wsl version of the Wahoo Valhalla port that refuses to work with big datasets.
We both made the same set of changes although in a slightly different manner. But that should logically not influence the behaviour of the routing.
Apart from file path modifications to the routing configuration file to accommodate for the difference between wsl and docker the configuration file is 100% identical.

If you really really really think there is a difference, I made a own docker image of my wsl version I used to make the "for CL to test" version and generated new routing files as a test. I could post them separately as a test if you can specify the region in Germany needed. (and maybe you still have the "CL" version as a download to try and compare?)

Of course, I have backed up the CL-to-test version of your Germany routing tiles from May 2023 for any comparison.

I would either test all of Germany or if you have already generated: Saxony + Saxony-Anhalt + Thuringia.

The first test would not be held until Friday or Saturday.

Me neither, I hoped the dy was something like Delty Y positioning but using values from +/-20 (used in an example I found) to +/- 120 made no visible difference at all.
This is was a also thought and tested. But didn‘t work. No Problem. Maybe I will give it an other try.

I have uploaded the regions to the "For CL to test " folder.
Same little rerouting issue as with the orig. Wahoo routing tiles: The rerouting does not suggest the optimal route back to the track. Sometimes it is like a backrouting, sometimes it is like a detour.

Maybe Wahoo did some routing changes in the firmware during the latest two updates?

The comparison with your previous routing tiles (May 2023) I will do tomorrow.

I don't know. I double/triple checked (compared) the config file but as far as I can see and remember, the only difference is the file paths for the wsl/docker differences.

Maybe however unlikely the compilation to a docker image "does something"?
Should not be possible, even if it reverts to a standard config file it would not run because of missing files or be obvious because it would create new ones at the wrong location...
